Chief of Party

About the Project: This role is part of USAID's Iraq Civic Engagement Activity, a five-year initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of local NGOs (LNGOs) to promote civic literacy, democratic participation, and local governance. The project focuses on building partnerships between LNGOs, government bodies, and local communities to strengthen civil society and encourage meaningful citizen engagement.

The Chief of Party (COP) will lead the program, providing strategic direction and overseeing implementation to meet USAID's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project strategies aligned with USAID goals.
  • Engage with LNGOs, government stakeholders, and community leaders.
  • Oversee project teams to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage budgets, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, international development, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing USAID-funded projects, preferably in civic engagement or democracy promotion.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with LNGOs and government counterparts.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.

Deputy Chief of Party

About the Project: The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will work within USAID's Iraq Civic Engagement Activity. This project is dedicated to enhancing the operational and programmatic capacity of LNGOs to advocate for civic participation and engage marginalized communities effectively. A key focus is fostering partnerships and empowering local organizations to take ownership of development initiatives.

The DCOP will support the Chief of Party in managing project operations and stakeholder engagement to achieve program success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee grants and sub-award management processes with LNGOs.
  • Ensure the alignment of project activities with USAID’s objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Party to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance to project partners and beneficiaries.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as community development or international relations.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project management, preferably with USAID or similar donor-funded programs.
  • Expertise in working with LNGOs, particularly in civic engagement initiatives.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
